Local Walks

Woody Bay (approx 8 miles round trip)

Walk to Woody Bay along the coast path. Turn right by the church in Lynton down North Walk and follow the signs to Valley of Rocks, head on to Lee Abbey and then Woody Bay. Alternatively, you can get to Woody Bay by car.

 

Southcliffe (approx 3.5 miles round trip)

Turn right onto The Lynway from the top of The Lynhurst. Keep straight up the hill (Alford Terrace), turn right at the junction and carry on down the road. Turn left at the bend and follow the signs up Southcliffe. This is quite hilly but there are magnificent views of Lee Abbey Bay.

 

Hollerday Hill

At the back of Lynton Town Hall, follow the path up the hill for lovely views of the Valley of Rocks and over to Countisbury and Exmoor.

 

Watersmeet (approx 3 miles round trip from Lynmouth or 5.5 miles via Summerhouse Hill)

From Lynmouth follow the beautiful river path up to Watersmeet House and tea room. Return back to Lynmouth on the other side of the river or continue towards Hillsford Bridge and return to Lynton via the Myrtleberry iron age settlements taking the Tarka Trail up Summerhouse Hill, and returning via the Cottage Inn.

Lyn and Bonnicott Woods

Turn left on The Lynway from the top of The Lynhurst, following the path to the Cottage Inn. Cross the river and turn left to follow the path to Watersmeet. Take the steep path left down to Lynmouth, or continue to Watersmeet.

Barbrook (approx 3 miles round trip)

Turn left on The Lynway from the top of The Lynhurst, following the path to the Cottage Inn. Turn right over the bridge and walk along the river to the road at Barbrook and back again.
